Renting a car with local number plates means that you won't stick out like a sore thumb on your rural adventures. Of course, your clever guise won't last longer than 2 seconds once you step out of the car and open your mouth, but at least you can explore the countryside on your own terms (as well as on the terms of the pot-holed roads and Mother Nature).
