The idyllic village of Slavske is the top skiing destination in the region and it has been a popular spot since the late nineteenth century. During the 70's it became the training centre for no less than the USSR Olympic team, and legend has it that Ukrainian pole vault hero Sergei Bubka once vaulted an entire house after a particularly lively days adventures. There are many guesthouses available to travellers and the resort retains its popularity in the Summer months when hikers descend on the village and embrace the great outdoors.
