Veronika

Veronika does a very decent cup of coffee but the star attractions here are the cakes. These artful confections come in every variety under the sun - suffice it to say sweet toothed travellers have found the promised land here. Take your pick from one of the myriad options and soak up the amusingly schmaltzy Viennese style decor. An essential stop for cake aficionados.

"The cakes, oh the cakes. But the pralines and chocolate truffles are really the thing that makes Veronika outstanding. The restaurant in the cellar is pretty good too. Good food, and especially interesting for the Western tourist is the huge variety of Ukrainian, Moldovan, Armenian and Georgian wines served by glass. Oh, and you can of course get any cake or truffle from upstairs as a dessert down in the restaurant..."
