Lviv's extensive gallery of art is likely to be a highlight of any culture vulture's trip to town. This longstanding enterprise has a princely array of treasures to draw upon, with impressive pickings from Italian, Dutch, French and Spanish Schools. Yet perhaps most interesting of all are the paintings from pre-First World War Galicia. A great flowering of art took place in the region during that era, with artists such as Mehoffer, Wyspianski and Malczewski all stunning the critics in Vienna.
