The counts and countesses have gone but the grandeur of this place still makes a powerful impact. You'd pay an arm and a leg for a seat in such a marvel in Western Europe. And even if you're not bowled over by the performance, the tickets certainly won't break the bank so you're unlikely to kick yourself for having made the effort. The dazzling opera house was founded in 1897 and it can seat as many as a thousand punters. Make sure you have a good wander around the Hall of Mirrors upstairs.

Highly recommend you catch a performance here. Very inexpensive! I saw a Russian Ballet perform "Swan Lake". Granted I was in the last row, but only paid $1. A stunning place!
